The Archdiocese of Philadelphia's obligation for Roman Catholics to attend Mass in person on Sundays and holy days will be reinstated Aug. 15 with the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez said Thursday. Philly-area Catholics have been excused from attending Mass since March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
